About Us
Scattered Arts is Brisbane's longest-running art and craft cooperative, proudly supporting local artists and crafters for over 50 years. Our members create an incredible range of handmade art, gifts, and homewares, offering unique and high-quality creations for everyone.
Our Mission
Scattered Arts exists to provide a space where creativity thrives. We are dedicated to nurturing artistic talent, promoting high-quality handmade art and craft, and building connections within Brisbane's vibrant arts community.
A Legacy of Creativity
Our journey began in 1966 as the South Side Cultural Centre Committee, with a vision to create a hub for artistic expression. The inaugural art show in 1967, held at Parliament House, was just the start of our rich history. Over the years, we’ve evolved, rebranding as The Creativity Centre in the 1970s and later adopting the name Scattered Arts—a reflection of the diverse and widespread creative community we serve.
In 1982, we found our first permanent home at a former service station in Coorparoo. Since then, we've continued to grow, adapting to new spaces and opportunities while staying true to our mission. In 2021, we transitioned to the Brisbane Visual Arts Community Hub (BVAC) in Tarragindi. This larger space enabled us to host workshops, exhibitions, market days, and more, continuing our commitment to providing a creative haven for artists and crafters.
Our New Home in Wynnum
In November 2024, we moved to our vibrant new space at Shop 3, 117 Edith Street, Wynnum. We are thrilled to be part of this welcoming bayside community, and the response has been heartwarming. Local residents, business owners, and visitors have all called in to wish us well.
Our Wynnum store is more than a shop—it’s a hub of creativity and community. We’re excited to contribute to making Wynnum and the bayside one of Brisbane's best places to live, shop, and connect.
