Stephanie Morris

I was a practicing artist in oils and pastels, from an early age, and held exhibitions and took portrait commissions during the 80's and 90's, also teaching at TAFE and privately. I won a number of prizes for my work including landscapes and figurative studies at that time. With the breakdown of my marriage and later caring for parents with dementia I turned more to the less exhausting (I found) creative outlet of sewing, textiles and fibre, setting up my business name 'wimcee' and taking part in markets across Brisbane and s-e Queensland, including BrisStyle and other niche markets like Mathilda's, Boutique, Saviours of the Lost Arts, and Etsy Made Local, and supplying outlets like The Collective at Wynnum, Hanasho, and Bleeding Heart in the city. In the past 10 years I've made a gradual return to visual arts and sold my original semi-abstract acrylics in my store at VEND, Virginia, and through the twice annual Southside Art Market. I have also created soft sculpture and original garments, as a finalist in several Brisbane City Council Recycled Art competitions and at the Reverse Garbage Fashion event last year (2024). I have my first solo exhibition FLOURISH opening next Friday night (16/05/2025) at Field Trip Gallery in Paddington.
